BAIBS Tuesday 15/10/13

More new readers/listeners. Sadly google translate doesn't recognise Derbyshirian. Still hello Chesterfield. Don't know if you've noticed or not but your spire needs some work.

Bit of a late blog today. For a day off I seem to have been inordinately busy. And then my laptop decided it fancied upgrading itself but then didn't seem keen on the fourth (of four) upgrade and started whimpering a bit. We got through that only for the internet to decide it no longer wanted to be the internet any more and went off to pursue a life as a transient goat washer. Lady Punka kindly pressed some buttons and it's come back now and is being all internety.

I hate to resort to stereotypes. I told my penpal Hans this. Hans is the blonde haired bifocaled chap who works in I.T. and is the very model of efficiency. 'Hans', I said, 'I hate to resort to stereotypes'. 'How wery English ov you', he replied. Anyway we have a group of gamers who meet in the pub every Monday evening. World Of Warcraft card game type stuff. It goes totally over my head. They're a likable crowd and fully realise how other people view them and frankly don't care. An excellent attitude. But last night a female of the species appeared in the gaming throng. I've never seen twenty adolescent lads look so confused. And our cleaner found a Rampant Sword Of Thragg card (or something) this morning. Someone's in for a thrashing without that.

Does anyone know the collective noun for gig promoters? I'm going with 'an errant.'

The Donny Ale Trail has been running a few weeks now. 12 pubs, pint of real ale in each, get your card stamped, get a t-shirt. Now there's no time limit on this, you can take weeks if you wish but my boss has decided we should do it tonight and as quick as we can. I see no happy outcome to this and yet still readily agreed. And we're meant to promote responsible drinking! We've t-shirts downstairs. I could save £40 and my liver. But where's the fun in that? Apologies in advance for the abysmal, or even lack of, show tomorrow.

And it means the England game tonight could just be a blur which if history repeats itself (1973, Jan Tomaszewski - the 'clown') then it may not be a bad thing.

OK, I'm off. I rate fancy some salmon. No idea why.
