BAIBS Wednesday 21/08/13

A shlog it is. Work in just over an hour.

Well due to personal reasons I've not blogged properly since Friday. Some catching up to do. It would be remiss of me not to mention Catfish And The Bottlemen at The Leopard last Friday night. An absolutely stunning live set from a very humble and genuine band. One of the best Leopard performances I've ever seen and a gig that, as everyone there will attest to, was something very special indeed. One of those rare live moments when you know you've witnessed something big.

Monday came and went with it's bad news and yesterday was a day of reflection before heading off to Wigan with 1,403 other members of the Red And White Army. I think every Rovers fan before kick off would have been happy with a point. When the Wigan team was read out that became more apparent. They've kept quite a few of last season's Premiership and F.A. Cup winning squad but Rovers gave as good as they got and went in 2-0 up at half time. We knew they'd come at us second half and on reflection a draw was a fair result. Both teams will think they should have won, Turnbull with 2 crucial saves for Rovers at 0-0 and Wigan had a stonewall penalty turned down, but also Rovers hitting the woodwork at 2-0 and again at 2-2.

I love away games ever since my first at York City in 1979 and the support was magnificent. Just a shame we can't make that noise at home.

You will see in today's playlist Woah! Tiger. A band from Indianapolis who kinda got involved on the 80 hour marathon show. The American dudes who took us on their tablet for a night out. Jack from the band finally got round to airmailing a CD and it was my pleasure to blast it out today.

The seaside came to Donny yesterday. Fairground rides, stalls and a large sandpit in Doncaster town centre. I liked it. I even resisted candy floss (Cotton candy Darrin and Jack), only to walk past the sandpit and here some chav moaning that it wasn't a proper beach. I'd like to say I hope you're reading this but the crucial word there is reading. Hopefully someone's reading it too you so you can be told you're a brainless twonk.

Right, I need pre work coffee and cigarette so will love you and leave you.

Oh and if anyone's wondering, Joe Strummer triple play for the legend's birthday and Glenn Miller for my Step-Dad.
