So if you've not seen it the initial letters of each song spells out The Sine FM Bigger All Important Breakfast Show. Mr. Pierce called me acrostic. I had to google that. I thought it was something to do with embroidery.  It's obvious now I look at it. Acrostic - acronym. I'm slow in the mornings. God knows why I do a breakfast show. It's also why for the first time I actually planned a playlist. For the colour linked songs I just had a list of about 45 songs I dipped into. This one had to be planned out whilst keeping with the feeling of the show and still getting new releases, birthdays and local gigs in there. I was originally trying to think of a phrase to use then realized the title of the show had about the right number of letters. I just had to hope it all squeezed into 3 hours. It did. Just. Anyway, Annette I owe you a pint.

I mentioned in there googling acrostic. Google has ceased to be just the name of a search engine and become a verb. What did we do before it? Think maybe? I was chatting to the kitchen selling Famous Villain last weekend about this. It was post gig at The Leopard and Toto's Hold The Line was playing. We both said how much we preferred it to Africa. Personally Africa is one of my least favourite songs ever. If only for the line 'As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti.' At face value it's a shocking line. Closer inspection shows the writer using a mountain as a metaphor for, er, well, a mountain. Genius. I'm googling again.

Metaphor: metaphor is a figure of speech that describes a subject by asserting that it is, on some point of comparison, the same as another otherwise unrelated object.

Unrelated object being the operative words there. And the tune's naff.

I've so gone off my point there. Unlike me to tangent like that. The point is this. Thinking and the joy that comes from it. As I discussed with Tobes, the kitchen selling Famous Villain, the merits of Hold The Line we wracked our brains for Toto's other hit that wasn't Africa. We were struggling and close to googling. Tobin, quite rightly, said it was lazy and denied the googler the pleasure of getting the answer unaided. At which point I yelled ROSANNA with a big grin on my face thus proving Tobes point.

And yes I googled the lyrics for Africa.
