According to the stats there's 12 people in Germany reading this blog right now. Guten Tag. Hope you enjoy. Sorry about all the cricket bits. In your honour we'll have full German translations today.

Laut der Statistik gibt es 12 Menschen in Deutschland diesen Blog lesen richtig. Guten Tag. Hoffen ihr  genießen. Entschuldigung um den Cricket-Bits. In deiner Ehre müssen wir volle deutschen Übersetzungen heute.

Another failed attempt to give blood again today.

Ein weiterer gescheiterter Versuch, wieder Blut heute geben.

Got the txt last week, 'please come down to the Keepmoat stadium to donate blood.' No times, just a date. Got there and all 20 nurses were on their lunch. I'd have to wait for an hour and a half. Well I've spent enough time bored in football stadiums in my life so sod that. Try again next time. I'm sure my blood's very nice. Just no-one seems to want it.

Ah, the Germans have gone. They'll have to translate for themselves later. Although memories of a school exchange trip tell me that the Germans' mastering of English is far better than my knowledge of German. Or English for that matter.

Quite a surreal show this morning. Having a chat on twitter with renowned author Mr. Richard Pierce about sidekicks and I mentioned I wanted to be Hong Kong Phooey's sidekick. The cat who's name I'd forgot. Turns out it's Spot. Think I managed to get all the lyrics of the Hong Kong Phooey theme music into the show somewhere. For prosperity they are:

Hong Kong Phooey, number one super guy.
Hong Kong Phooey, quicker than the human eye.

He's got style, a groovy style,
and a car that just won't stop.
When the going gets tough, he's really rough,
with a Hong Kong Phooey chop.

Hong Kong Phooey, number one super guy.
Hong Kong Phooey, quicker than the human eye.
Hong Kong Phooey, he's fanriffic.

and just in case:

Hong Kong Phooey himself retweeted me. OK I'm under no illusions. It was probably a fake account and not the real Hong Kong Phooey.

While were at it there was a quality R n' B band in Donny back in the 80s named after the Dr. Feelgood song Hong Kong Money. They played in The George (Courtyard) one night and the, rather drunk, landlady introduced then as Hong Kong Phooey. It kinda stuck after that.

I have no idea why all this came about. I can only blame it on tiredness. Blame James Patterson. The author. Started reading one of his books last night. It says on the back, 'The pages turn themselves' - The Daily Mail. They don't. I sat there for about an hour and not one page turned so I resorted to the old fashioned way and did it myself. I know, how dense can anyone be believing anything The Daily Mail says. Incidentally I once knew a girl called Paige Turner. And one called Theresa Green. It's true. It's a good un though and a little bit unputdownable. That is a word. I know cos I just made it up.

Speaking of books, Fonzie was in town yesterday. Yep, Henry Winkler doing a book signing at a well known bookshop. No, the other one. That's it. I thought about going along but I knew I'd be stuck for words and just end up saying 'Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy' and I'm sure he'd have heard that before.

Well enough from me.

BAIBS Tuesday 12/03/13

Well I was gonna have a moan about the weather then decided not to cos, well, I always promised myself I never would, both via this blog and in general really and there's sod all you can do about it. OK so it's a bit colder than we'd like at this time of year but just take the gloves back out of their semi retirement and put an extra 'clout' on. Could be my step-dad was right on this 'Ne'er cast a clout' malarkey. I've tried about 5 different spellings of malarkey and I'm not happy with any of them. I've gone with the spellcheck one but I'm not convinced. Maybe stuff would have been a better word. Interestingly my spellcheck doesn't recognize spellcheck. Spellcheck itself wants to hyphenate it but when the cursor glides across the icon it most definitely says 'spellcheck'. This could be one of those googling google moments that might break the internet. (Didn't recognize google either).

So I'm leaving the weather alone. Kind of. I was meant to be seeing the original Status Quo line-up tonight. Mock all you want but before they became the epitome of uncool (somewhere around Margarita Time - and we all get uncool at margarita time) Quo rocked with the best of them. And who wants to be cool anyway.

(This bits for you Nidge)

In my mid-teens I used to go all over the country watching football and cricket. Football normally on the train or Rovers' supporters coach but cricket was nearly always in my mate Steve Keld's little blue Mini. Sadly neither are no longer with us. The music of choice on these trips was nearly always Status Quo's 12 Gold Bars and this Mini bounced the length and breadth of this sceptred isle to the three chord, heads down, no nonsense boogie of the Quo. Epic times. (Spellcheck really doesn't like sceptred. Think it's American. They don't have sceptres. It suggested septic). We'd sometimes play the odd mixtape and if we fell behind a white or red Mini a chorus of The Self Preservation Society would burst forth but I'd say it was 90% Quo. The Mini got sold on to my brother. He's 6'2. I'm 6'5. If he gave me a lift anywhere all you saw were four knees heading your way.

Alas, finances have dictated that I shall not be seeing Quo tonight but I had the fall back of Rovers looking to consolidate top spot down at the Keepmoat only to have that snatched away from me because of the bloody weather!

In a drunken moment on Friday night I promised Russ Graham a birthday request only to find out he never listens to the show! So this is kinda it. Happy birthday twonk.

So the biggest show ever beckons. Or even bigger show I think we've settled on as a name. Many have been asking if it just entails sitting in the studio for 80 hours. Well yes and no. And that 'just' lurking in there implies it'll be a piece of cake. It really isn't but I've waffled enough today so shall furnish you with further details some other time.

BAIBS Friday 8/03/13

Schoolboy error today. I forgot to charge my iPod. Actually is it a schoolboy error? When I was at school there was no such thing as an iPod. There was no such thing as Sony Walkman. And I can't imagine any schoolboy today would forget to charge his iPod. We'll start again.

Error today. Forgot to charge my iPod. I managed to get all of The Associates' Party Fears Two but it packed up halfway through The Enemy's Like A Dancer.

Back in a mo. Writing this has reminded me to put my iPod on charge.

Sorted. So I had to endure the piped music at the gym today. That is piped over the speakers, not via a piper stood in the corner. I'd have walked out had that been the case. The dance music thrust in my general direction is marginally better than bagpipe music. Still makes me angry though. One pumping tune seem to be imploring me to eat mac and cheese. Why would a gym do that? I tried to block it out by once again immersing myself in what was on TV only to see Alan Titchmarsh interviewing Jeffrey Archer. What warped mind thought that would be acceptable viewing apart from in the raging pits of Hell? Archer found himself being interviewed on 5 Live by Richard Bacon earlier this week too. Why is this detestable, odious ex-con being given airtime? Well he's got a new book out obviously.

The suit stealing* perjurer may well be the greatest author this country's ever produced. First Among Equals may make Birdsong read like a children's book. (If you've not read Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks then rectify this at once). Thing is, I'll never know. I could never read a book written by someone who this week came out with the staggering statement, 'Being disadvantaged is an advantage in life.' Yes it's so much better to be worrying where the next meal is coming from rather than live without worry in comfort.

There was a cooking segment on the show. I guess the chef (no idea who) deserves credit for standing next to Archer whilst holding a sharp knife and only filleting a lump of beef/pork/horse. No idea what it was.

*('While he was a witness in the Aquablast case in Toronto in 1977, Archer was accused of taking three suits from a department store, an accusation he denied for many years. However, in the late 1990s, Archer finally acknowledged that he had indeed taken the suits, although he claimed that at the time he had not realised he had left the shop.[4] No charges were brought'. Hadn't realised he'd left the shop!? I'm trying that one in Asda tomorrow).

Only a similar note I'm having to rethink my wish list having recently found out Helena Bonham Carter's a Tory. I'm desperately trying to seek evidence to the contrary. It's got me reeling so much though that I've just put milk and coffee whitener in my coffee.

And relax. It's a weekend but I've allowed myself to get angry. Seeing prisoner FF 8282 on TV does that to me.

My daughter's 16th tomorrow. Ouch. Actually it doesn't bother me in the slightest. She's looked in her late teens for years now but thankfully has so much intelligence and common sense I've never worried about her. BUT I used to be a teenage lad and I know how they think. It's them I  worry about.

George has excellent musical taste. She educates me, I'd never heard of Frank Turner for example til she put me onto him.And she's my favourite gigging partner though again I do tend to spend more time watching the boys watching her than the band we've gone to see. The joys of parenthood.

I've shopped relatively easily for her present. Helps so much when she says, 'Dad I'd like this please from that shop.'

And stop. Have a great weekend.

Belize! Brilliant. Hello there.

Viz vests. Walking in at 6am and they're everywhere. Well, not everywhere. There's not that many people about but those that are seem to be sporting the bright yellow, sometimes orange, garments. I feel out of place. The only other person I came across this morning without a viz vest was a window cleaner. Though I walked right into him so maybe viz vests for pedestrians should be compulsory. Saying that the viz vest does seem to be the pedestrian equivalent of the drivers' hazard lights. Some people seem to think if you bang your hazards on and any manoeuvre in a vehicle is allowed. U-turn on a motorway? Reversing down a crowded pavement? Invading a Middle East nation? Stick your hazard lights on and it's all fine. Want to walk four abreast down the pavement and not get out of people's way? Wear viz vests. Suddenly stop and cause a pedestrian pile up? Viz vest. Invade a Middle East nation? Viz vest. Should you choose to invade by foot of course. The government have said they're sending protective clothing to Syria, Viz vests!

I watched something on BBC4 last night about the oldest joke ever. It was very interesting but it turns out the oldest joke discovered was Egyptian, from about 1800BC and was an unfunny fart joke. By Rameses Boardman III.

Was gonna rant about ManU but decided enough has been said already. Every football fan at some point has bemoaned a refereeing decision that may have cost them the game. Put up and shut up. Plus personally I thought it was a red card anyway.

I've remembered the Simpsons thing I mentioned yesterday. I mentioned something on facebook the other day about Family Guy and someone commented they didn't like it cos, like The Simpsons, it wasn't realistic. It's a cartoon about yellow people with only 4 digits on each hand. Of course it's not realistic. That erudite and statesmanlike George W. Bush once stated that the problem with American family life was that more families were like the Simpsons as oppose to the Waltons. Who remembers The Waltons? If you do I'll bet you only remember one or two things about it. Goodnight John-Boy. Always John-Boy. Does anyone remember any other character? And some people may remember the theme tune. You know it. Der der derr der der derrrr der. If memory serves me correctly they lived on Walton Mountain. Was that a family heirloom or did they buy the mountain and arrogantly change it's name? Maybe it was just happy coincidence that The Waltons bought an 8 bedroomed shack on Walton Mountain. That's all people remember though. Story line anyone?

I cant believe I've just ranted about The Waltons and somewhat more surprisingly I've a serious point. The Waltons never shared a cross word. All was sweetness and light. The Simpsons all have failings, some more than others, but these failings are accepted and forgiven. The Waltons is the far more disfunctional family. Think I may have lost it a bit. Still making more sense than George W. Bush though.

Mark Kelly joined me again this morning. As you can see from the playlist we talk too much. Ten songs less than usual. Ish. And only 8 songs played in the last hour. Seriously good fun though.

Off for a lie down.

BAIBS Wednesday 6/03/13

I'm having coffee and cheese. Literally. Decided to have some cheese and crackers and in the Taw Valley Cheddar slicing process a bit flew up and landed in my coffee. I'll be honest, it's not really working for me. Speaking of coffee and cheese there's a new deli/coffee shop opened near the market. I've not been in. I daren't. I love coffee. I love cheese. I've peeked through the window and they have a million cheeses. Honestly  A million. I'd never get out the place.

I am having a disastrous day food wise. Two banana incidents. Firstly during the show my banana broke in half with one half tumbling onto the studio floor. I've seen that floor. The five second rule goes straight out the window. Then I had a post gym banana. It had a hair in it. Not on it, but in it. How does that happen? I know we've all sat down for a meal at some point and found a hair in it. We just remove the hair, pretend it wasn't there and try and ignore the lank haired waiter with eczema and alopecia who seems to spend his time  running his hand through his hair after scratching his arse. We don't complain. We're British. BUT how does a hair get under a banana's skin. Must have annoyed it greatly. Needless to say I ate the banana.

Got my cod liver oil capsules. My knowledge of fish anatomy is limited. Fins, tail, eyes, gills. That's about it but I can't imagine a cod's liver is particularly big. These tablets are massive. Think each one may be an actual cod's liver.

I mentioned the other day about the landslip out Hatfield way and pondered the difference between a landslip and a landslide. I think I've got it. It depends if the slag heap, sorry, spoil heap meant to do it or not. If I'm walking on ice or a polished floor I will, without hesitation, attempt some kind of James Brown type slide. But if I'm walking and just take an unplanned tumble, which happens often, ice or no ice, then it is most definitely a slip. So we need to find out if the slag/spoil heap was having a Godfather Of Soul moment basically. I also intend to find out the difference between a slag heap and a spoil heap. The answer may be top shelf though.

I had a whole thing about The Simpsons in my head that I was gonna write about but it's gone. Must be an age thing. Hopefully I'll have it back by tomorrow.

BAIBS Tuesday 5/03/13

So there's a little lighthouse appeared on my phone shrouded in fog. I know it's fog because it has the word fog next to it just to clarify. I'm glad about that because I've been struggling with the whole fog/mist thing. Reading out the weather reports and it says fog turning to mist then back to fog. What's the difference? I feel I should know. In  fact I'm gonna investigate.

The general consensus seems to be they are one and the same but if visibility is less than 1km it's fog, more than 1km it's mist. Basically fog's thicker. Probably sat at the back of the class throwing paper aeroplanes while mist was beavering away with his head in a book. It's also possible that fog is just a depressed cloud. I quote, 'Fog is a cloud that has sunk as low as it can go.' There's also a little bit that says mist, but not fog, can form on humid days above a lake or a pond. This surely disproves the one and the same thing doesn't it?

I was once walking home one night down Thorne Road and a fog had formed on the Town Fields, but only on the bottom half and only about 3 feet deep. My drunken self decided to check this out. It was definitely fog because as I stood in it I couldn't see my feet. I'm tall but that's definitely less than 1km visibility. Someone else had had the same idea. I could see the top half of some guy gliding through the fog. I ducked into the sad cloud, scampered about 20 yards and popped up again. I could see from the shaking shoulders my fellow fog wanderer found it amusing. He did the same thing. We took it in turns doing this for about 20 minutes. What I didn't realise was that he was walking his dog. Who walks a dog in thick fog at 2am!? On my next crouching run I got waylaid by a Great Dane that leapt on me from nowhere. I can't repeat what I said. I died a little though.

I got annoyed in the gym today. I'd left my iPod in my locker and was subjected to a rave being blasted at me before I relented and went back for my iPod and the sanctuary of tunes. I guess the gym owners work on some bpm thing. I tried to concentrate on a tv but Olly Murs was on giving bad interview. 'If I played all the songs I wanted to live the show would last nearly 2 hours and that's just too long.' WHAT!!? Good to see the twat in the hat believes in giving value for money. There was other stuff but I promised myself a none ranting blog today.

Before my eyebrows showed their weakness again I checked out the sign in the market car park cos I think I may have misread it last time. I can confirm it says: 'Disabled Parking. (Blue Rinse Squad). Only apples in the 22 desecrated disabled baps.' It's possible I'm wrong again.

Anyway, enough of this. I must away. Tish tish stout yeoman and fare thee well.

BAIBS Monday 4/03/13

So that was a weekend. A very quiet one. As mentioned on Friday the government have stopped my benefits. I know why now though. I received a letter addressed to insert name here saying I failed to attend insert course here on insert date here as requested by insert name here. If I wish to contest this decision I should reply by insert date here. This is systematic of how the unemployed are treated. I don't dispute some unemployed are happy to do nothing and not look for work but the majority of us don't want to be out of work. But the government want the working man to think that the unemployed guy next door is scrounging off you. I'll say again, divide and conquer!

Anyway I replied to the manager of the agency who sent the letter asking for his job as I'm capable of filling in the blanks.

Rant over I believe is what people say. So again, if anyone has any work going drop me a line. Though can I have the first week in April off please? Gonna be a bit busy doing an 80 hour show.

Back in September 2011 myself and Mark Kelly did a 72 hour radio show. A world record. Thus:

We raised a few thousand quid for charity and were happy with a job well done. We both said 'never again.' The previous record had been 54 hours. We set out to smash it and did. We honestly thought the record would stand. Since then many have tried and failed but the record has now gone. First a German radio station did 73 hours now a station in Middlesex has done 74 hours. If our record had been well beaten then I think we'd both have sat back and said fair enough but I think because they've just sneaked over the line we have a grim determination to smash it again. So 80 hours it is starting at 8am Monday April 1st. (I know)!!

It sounds nothing when you say it. 80 hours. 4 syllables. Piece of cake. It really isn't. Last time I nearly quit way before we got close to the record, at about 20 hours! And again around the 50 hour mark. Mark really struggled in the final few hours. After about 65 hours he was convinced he'd been banged up and had no idea why. We know the pitfalls this time so hopefully can achieve our goal. If you want to get involved, and we need all the help we can get, please get in touch. If you want to sponsor us there's a link at www.sinefm.com We need 2 witnesses at all times to officiate. Again if you fancy it drop me a line.

It's been on the news recently about the landslide near Hatfield. Is it a landslide or a landslip? I've seen both said. What's the difference? And apparently it's something to do with the spoil heap at the pit. Is that what used to be a slag heap? Or is that just not pc anymore?

Anyway, gotta go. There's a stack of pots with my name on them. Had alphabetti spaghetti for lunch.
