BAIBS Wednesday 09/01/13

I'm tall. No revelation for those that know me. No life changing statement for those that don't. I like being tall. Yes I bang my head a lot but that's more to do with being an idiot than being tall. And I spend a lot of time at gigs arguing that I cant get out of everyone's way. I've paid the same as you to stand here, you should've got here earlier. It's an odd thing being tall. People tell me I'm tall all the time. Douglas Adams wrote in The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy that human beings have a habit of stating the obvious as in 'You're very tall aren't you.' It's true.

I had what can only be called a pedestrian shunt this morning. My fault, I was txting and didn't realize that the person walking in front had stopped, I think, to txt as well. Maybe pavements should have txting areas like small roads have passing places. Anyway I walked into him, apologized and all he said was 'You're tall aren't you?' I had to confess that yes, I am tall.

I was once at a checkout in Sainsbury's when the woman behind me recognized my voice from the radio. I confirmed it was me to which she said, in all seriousness, 'You don't sound as tall on the radio.' I pointed out that when I'm on the radio I'm sat down and somewhat worryingly she accepted that explanation.

I used to deliver Betterware catalogues in Hexthorpe. Yes, OK, we all have things in our past we're not proud of but times were hard and I needed the money. Betterware stuff is brilliant. £3.80 for a left handed squirrel grooming kit is a real bargain. Anyway, I knocked on one old ladies door for the catalogue and was asked if I was a student. She only asked because her nephew was a student and he was tall too. Baffling.

As previously mentioned I'm having trouble with the dictate a txt function on my phone. Rob Dannatt suggested doing a whole blog from a dictated txt. Thought I'd try it with just one sentence. I'll blog the translation tomorrow if I remember.
